Dr. E. Sethukrishna
Ayurvedic Specialist & Surgeon | 20+ Years of Practice | Founder, Sethu Ayurveda Speciality Hospital, Coimbatore
Dr. E. Sethukrishna is a renowned Ayurvedic surgeon and physician with over two decades of experience in classical Ayurveda, surgical Ayurveda, and integrative wellness care. He is the founder of Sethu Ayurveda Speciality Hospital, Coimbatore — a multi-speciality Ayurveda hospital that has served patients from across South India and abroad for more than 20 years.
Alongside his clinical practice, Dr. Sethukrishna serves as Joint Secretary (South) of the National Susrutha Association of the Faculty of Ayurveda, Banaras Hindu University, and as a Consultant Surgeon at NG Hospital, Coimbatore. His work spans clinical practice, academic engagement, and the wider effort to make authentic, evidence-informed Ayurveda accessible to a broader audience.
At Tros Care, Dr. Sethukrishna brings his deep expertise to our Alwarpet centre through structured outpatient consultations, personalised treatment planning, and supervised therapy sessions. His approach combines classical Ayurvedic diagnosis — including Prakriti (constitutional) analysis and Nadi Pariksha (pulse diagnosis) — with practical, lifestyle-integrated treatment plans tailored to each individual.
Important note about our service model: Tros Care offers outpatient Ayurvedic care only — meaning consultations, day-care therapies, and treatment plans you can integrate into your daily life. We do not offer inpatient admission. For full residential Panchakarma or inpatient Ayurvedic care, we work closely with Dr. Sethukrishna’s principal hospital in Coimbatore, and can help facilitate a referral if required.
What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is one of the world’s oldest systems of medicine — a holistic, time-tested approach to health that has been practised in India for over 5,000 years. The word itself comes from two Sanskrit words: ayur (life) and veda (knowledge). At its heart, Ayurveda is the science of living well.
Rather than treating only symptoms, Ayurveda looks at the whole person — your body, your mind, your daily habits, your environment, and even the time of year — to understand the root cause of imbalance. It uses a personalised combination of:
- Detailed clinical assessment (including pulse diagnosis, body constitution analysis, and lifestyle review)
- Natural therapies and traditional treatments
- Herbal medicines prepared from authentic, classical formulations
- Personalised dietary and lifestyle guidance
- Yoga, meditation, and breathwork, where appropriate
Ayurveda is not a quick fix. It is a partnership between you and your practitioner — one focused on long-term wellness, the prevention of disease, and helping your body return to its natural state of balance.

Our outpatient services at Tros Care
Tros Care is an outpatient Ayurvedic centre. We offer day-care therapies and consultation-based treatment plans designed to fit into your daily routine — so you can receive authentic Ayurvedic care without requiring hospital admission or extended stays.
At Tros Care, every Ayurvedic visit begins with a detailed consultation with Dr. Sethukrishna. After understanding your concerns, your medical history, and your individual constitution, he will recommend a personalised plan tailored to you. This may include outpatient therapies, herbal formulations, dietary guidance, and lifestyle recommendations — with each element chosen based on what is appropriate for your specific needs.
Because Ayurvedic care is highly individual, we prefer to recommend specific therapies after consultation rather than offering fixed packages. This ensures the care you receive is genuinely suited to you.
Full classical Panchakarma — the five purification therapies (Vamana, Virechana, Basti, Nasya, Raktamokshana) — traditionally requires residential admission for safety and continuous monitoring. We do not currently offer full inpatient Panchakarma at Tros Care. For those who require this level of care, we work closely with Dr. Sethukrishna’s principal hospital in Coimbatore, where complete inpatient Panchakarma programmes are available. We are happy to help facilitate this referral when needed.
What your treatment journey looks like
-
Your first consultation — understanding your story. We begin with a detailed conversation about your health concerns, medical history, lifestyle, diet, sleep, stress levels, and any symptoms you have been experiencing. Dr. Sethukrishna will conduct a clinical examination, including pulse diagnosis (Nadi Pariksha) and constitutional assessment (Prakriti analysis). This first session is about building a complete picture of you — not just your presenting concern.
-
Personalised treatment planning. Based on your assessment, your doctor will design a treatment plan that may include therapies, herbal formulations, dietary recommendations, and lifestyle adjustments. We explain each element clearly so you understand what is being offered and why.
-
Therapy sessions (where applicable). If your treatment plan includes therapies, these will be scheduled across a defined number of sessions at our Alwarpet centre. Each therapy is delivered by trained practitioners under medical supervision, using authentic herbal formulations and traditional techniques.
-
Review & adjustment Ayurvedic treatment is rarely a single intervention. We review your progress at regular intervals, adjust the treatment plan as your body responds, and refine the approach over time. Progress is rarely a straight line — and that is completely normal.
-
Long-term wellness Once your acute concern is addressed, we work with you to integrate Ayurvedic principles into your daily life so you can sustain the benefits and prevent recurrence — through continued lifestyle guidance, seasonal cleanses, or periodic wellness check-ins.
Consultations are typically 45 to 60 minutes. Therapy session durations vary by treatment. Both first-time consultations and follow-ups are available at our Alwarpet centre.
What you can expect to gain
Lasting relief, not just symptom suppression
Ayurveda treats the root cause, not just the symptom. The goal is meaningful, lasting change — not a temporary fix that masks what is really going on.
A deeper understanding of your body
You will learn how your unique constitution responds to food, climate, stress, and routine — knowledge you can use to maintain your wellbeing for the rest of your life.
Practical, sustainable changes
You will leave with concrete, doable guidance — not impossible diet plans or extreme routines, but small, consistent adjustments that fit your real life.
This is a space for everyone.
We work with adolescents and adults from all walks of life. Our consultations are warm, unhurried, and never judgmental. Whether you are entirely new to Ayurveda or have engaged with it before, you are welcome here, exactly as you are.
You do not need to know what is wrong, or how to describe it perfectly. You just need to be willing to begin a conversation — and we will take it from there.

Frequently asked Questions
No referral is needed. You can book a consultation directly with our therapy centre. If you are already seeing another specialist at Tros Care, they can also refer you internally — but it is entirely optional.
Yes, in most cases. Ayurveda works well alongside modern medical treatment. We will always ask about your current medications and any ongoing care, and design a plan that complements rather than conflicts with what you are already taking. Please continue any prescribed medication as advised by your treating doctor — do not stop without medical guidance.
Yes. The herbal formulations we use are sourced from trusted, licensed manufacturers operating under Indian regulatory standards, and many are prepared according to classical Ayurvedic texts. We are transparent about every medicine we recommend, and we will discuss potential interactions or sensitivities with you before starting any treatment.
This depends entirely on your concern, its duration, and how your body responds. Acute conditions may resolve within a few sessions or weeks. Chronic conditions typically require a longer-term plan — sometimes over several months. We will give you a realistic expectation after your first consultation, and we will never overstate what Ayurveda can achieve.
No. Tros Care offers outpatient Ayurvedic care only — day-care therapies and consultation-based treatment plans. We do not have inpatient admission facilities. For those who require full classical Panchakarma or residential Ayurvedic care, we work closely with Dr. Sethukrishna’s principal hospital in Coimbatore and can facilitate a referral on your behalf.
Please bring any recent medical reports, blood tests, scans, prescriptions, or specialist letters relevant to your concern. A short note listing your current medications, including doses, is also helpful. If you do not have any of these to hand, please do not let that stop you from coming — we can still proceed.
Yes. Ayurveda is officially recognised and regulated by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. Registered Ayurvedic doctors are required to hold a Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) degree from a recognised institution, and many — like Dr. Sethukrishna — also hold postgraduate qualifications in specialised areas.
Yes, with parental consent and presence. Ayurveda has a long tradition of paediatric care — particularly for recurrent infections, digestive concerns, immunity-building, and developmental wellbeing. Please let us know in advance if you are bringing a child, so we can prepare appropriately
The best way to find out is to come in for an initial consultation. Dr. Sethukrishna will assess your concern honestly and tell you whether Ayurveda can help, whether a combined approach with another specialty makes sense, or whether you would be better served by another route. We will never recommend treatment that is not in your best interest.
Yes. Everything you share during your consultations is strictly confidential. Your medical information will not be shared with your family, employer, or any third party without your explicit written consent. The only exceptions are situations involving immediate risk to your safety — and these will always be discussed with you clearly.
